ANDREW CLAPHAM

After completing his Honours in Fine Art and Masters of Communication Design at RMIT in Naarm/Melbourne, Andrew developed a hybrid practice as a print-based artist and designer. He specialised in printmaking, branding, illustration, and print design. Andrew now explores the role of craft by merging traditional and contemporary print techniques within art and design. His visual language is strongly influenced by activism and politics and always seeks to engage with the richness and history of manual processes where possible.

He has collaborated with international artists and award-winning Melbourne design/print studios Fabio Ongrato and Negative Press in custom screen printing projects and art commissions. He provides niche knowledge and unique perspectives for exhibition design and graphic identities.

As an artist, Andrew has exhibited at galleries such as Port Jackson Press, RMIT School of Art Gallery, Testing Grounds. He has also worked on public art projects for the City of Moreland, Stonnington Council, and the City of Melbourne.

Andrew is a sessional lecturer at RMIT in the School of Art as an industry professional, teaching contemporary printmaking practice. He is currently a board member of the Sunshine Print Artspace, providing services, communication strategies, and print demonstrations for community projects.

In November 2018, Andrew founded AMCD Studio.
